The Alpine High Rise H-0 Fire-Tite® Door is ideal for use in off-shore oil rig platforms, oil drilling platforms, marine bulkhead doors, chemical storage facilities, ocean vessels, ships and tankers.
Functional Benefits
- Alpine’s Rolling High Rise H-O Fire Doors were tested for a period of 128 minutes (122 minutes and 15 seconds of continuous fire exposure) under the temperature conditions specified in ASTM E1529-93, “Standard Test Methods for Determining Effects of Large Hydrocarbon Pool Fires on Structural Members and Assemblies.”

- 3/4 hr Rating – 0.75 hour approved for doors in a corridor or a room-partition opening not exceeding 162 sq. ft. in area. Sizes above 162 sq. ft. will be oversized.
- 4 Hour Rated (Optional) – Approved for doors with openings not exceeding 162 sq. ft. in area. Sizes above 162 sq. ft. will be oversized.

Installation
- The opening preparation and the installation of the fire door shall be per-formed in strict compliance with NFPA-80.
- Opening preparation, miscellaneous or structural metal work, access doors,finish or field painting, field electrical wiring, wire, conduit, fuses and discon-nect switches are in the Scope of Work of other divisions or trades.
CURTAIN
The Curtain is constructed of interlocking, roll-formed 2 3/4”, 22 guage stainless steel flat slats. The curtain is equipped with a bottom bar consisting of two 2” stainless steel plates, 14 guage, which extend into the frames/guides. The bottom bar is designed to reinforce the curtain and to provide contact against the doorsill when closed.
BRACKETS
Made from a steel plate 1/4” thick with ball bearings at rotating support points. When bolted to the wall, the mounting angle supports the counterbalance assembly and forms an end enclosure.
HOOD HEXAGON (Square or Round OPTIONAL)
Manufactured from #22 gauge galvanized steel and formed to fit the contour of the brackets. Intermediate supports are used as required in order to prevent excessive sag. (Option: stainless steel)
GUIDES
Guides are designed using structural steel angles with a minimum thickness of 3/16″ expansion slotted connections, and removable bellmount curtain stops to allow for curtain maintenance without removal of the guides. Bellmouth stops shall be flush with the guide groove.
COUNTERBALANCE ASSEMBLY
Steel pipe barrel of a size capable of carrying a curtain load with a maximum deflection of 0.03” per ft. of door width. Heat treated helical torsion springs encased in steel pipe and designed to include an overload factor of 25% to ensure minimum effort to operate. Sealed and pre lubricated ball bearings are located at rotating support points. Torsion spring charge wheel is present for applying initial spring torque and for future adjustments.
Option: stainless steel or hot dipped galvanized.
Option: High Cycle Springs can be designed to satisfy from 10,000 through 400,000 life cycles.
LOCKING
Optional padlockable slide locks available for latching and locking the door on the coil side of the bottom bar. Electric Interlocks required with motorized doors.
GALVANIZING
To be applied to the guides, brackets, pipe shafts and gears in addition to the standard specifications. Applied where conditions of extreme or unusual atmospheric contamination is present. (In accordance with ASTM: A123
ANTI-WARPING BOTTOM BAR EDGES specialized bottom bar and steel edge to maximize containment of fuel and oil spills.
- Fire Performance Evaluation of the Alpine H-0 Overhead Door Assembly was conducted in accordance with IMO Resolution A.754, (18),“Recommendation on Fire Resistance Tests for A, B, and F Class Divisions and ASTM E1529-93.
- The test door dimensions were 10’ X 8’ ft. The door was installed in a representative bulkhead section which was constructed in general accordance with IMO Resolution A.754 (18).
- The door edges were stiffened with 2.5” x 2.5” x 1/4” reinforced angles. The exposed face of the bulkhead was insulated to an A-60 rating, provided by two, 2-in. layers of Delta Marine Board insulation.
- The Alpine H-0 Overhead Door and assembly was tested for a total of two hours and 8 minutes and was exposed to continuous fire exposure for a total of 122 minutes and 15 seconds. The Alpine H-0 Overhead Door maintained its structural integrity by remaining closed for the entire duration of this fire test.

1.03 SUBMITTALS FOR SPECIALTY DOORS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Product Data: Provide manufacturer’s standard details and catalog data. Provide installation instructions.
C. Shop Drawings: Furnish shop drawings for architect’s approval. Include elevation, sections, and details indicating dimensions, materials, finishes, conditions for anchorage and support of each door.
D. Submit manufacturer’s recommended operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance instructions.
1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE FOR LOADING DOCK DOORS
A. Manufacturer: Rolling doors shall be manufactured by a firm with a minimum of five years experience.
B. Fire-Rated Assemblies: Provide all doors with fire resistance rating required to comply with governing regulations which are inspected, tested, listed and labeled by SwRI and UL, complying with NFPA 80 for class of opening. Provide UL label permanently fasted to each fire door assembly. Door shall be tested under UL10B and ULC10B, and provided with an H-0 rating (no hourly rating).
C. Single-Source Responsibility: Manufacturer shall provide doors, tracks, motors, and accessories for each type of door. Secondary components shall come from a source acceptable to the manufacturer of the primary components.
1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver materials in original packaging supplied by manufacturer with intact labels. Store materials away from harmful environmental conditions and construction.
1.06 WARRANTY
A. Door Warranty: Provide one year written warranty from date of installation against deficiencies due to defects in materials or workmanship. Installer agrees to repair or replace any defects in materials or workmanship.
B. Project Warranty: Refer to Conditions of the Contract for project warranty provisions.

k) Fail-safe feature: In case of power failure, door shall close automatically after a 10 second delay [adjustable].
l) Each fire door shall be designed so that it may be drop tested by cutting the power, removing the fusible link, or activating alarm/smoke detector.
m) Resetting of spring tension or mechanical dropouts shall not be required. After correction cause of closure, doors shall immediately reset by opening with the push button.

2. Model Redi-Reset® NFS (Non-Fail-Safe) (Also recommended for fire doors up to 60’ x 20’)
All features same as Model Redi-Reset® FS except for:
a) No Fail-safe feature: Door will not close automatically during power failure. Prevents unwanted closure during brief outages.
b) Each fire door shall be designed so that it may be drop tested by removing the fusible link or activating alarm/smoke detector.

k) Operator shall have an internal battery backup that prevents fail-safe closing for 72 hours after power outage. Backup system shall monitor fusible link and alarm signals and initiate automatic closing upon any alarm.
l) Each operator shall be provided with a key test station to test automatic closing of the fire door. Key test station shall also include a low battery indicator.
m) Resetting of spring tension or mechanical dropouts shall not be required. After correction cause of closure, doors shall immediately reset by opening with the push button.

a) Manual combination chain/controlled closing system.
b) For use on doors up to 30’ x 24’ that do not require daily convenience of motor. Recommended for fire doors with exposed guides or fire doors in excess of 12’.
c) Endless steel chain, geared reduction unit, chain keeper and combination close operation/automatic drop test cable.
d) Locking mechanism to hold door at any position of travel during normal door operation.
e) Governor to control automatic closing speed.
f) Automatic Closure shall be activated by fusible link [local smoke/fire detector] [central smoke/fire alarm system]. Doors shall not require a releasing device when activated by an alarm.
g) Average closing speed: No less than 6” per second or more than 9” per second.
h) Resetting of spring tension or mechanical dropouts shall not be required.

2. Redi-Reset® II Crank
a) Manual combination crank/controlled closing system.
b) For use on doors up to 30’ x 12’ that do not require daily convenience of motor. Recommended for finished or recessed doors.
c) Removable hand crank, geared reduction unit, and combination close operation/automatic drop test cable.
d) All other features same as Redi-Reset® II Chain.
2.04 Fire Ratings:
A. The door shall have been tested in accordance with ASTM E 1529 and IMO Resolution A.754 (18). The H-0 Fire-Tite shall be approved by, UL and ULC for use in an IMO “H-0” rated marine bulkhead and classified as to fire resistance only based on a successful 2 hour test by SwRI.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION OF SPECIALTY DOORS
A. Verify that dimensions are correct and project conditions are in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions; do not proceed with installation until unacceptable conditions have been corrected.
3.02 INSTALLATION
A. Install units in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Ensure that units are installed plumb and true, free of warp or twist, and within tolerances specified by manufacturer for smooth operation.
C. Preparation for opening and installation of fire door to be in strict compliance with NPFA-80.
3.03 FIELD TESTING OF LOADING DOCK DOORS
A. Test doors for regular operation and automatic closing. Proper authorities having jurisdiction must witness test and sign Drop Test Form.

A. Clean units in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Restore slight blemishes in finishes in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions to match original finish. Remove and provide new units where repairs are not acceptable to the Architect.

Alpine’s High Rise H-O Fire-Tite® maritime steel doors are Alpine Fire-Tite® doors designed specifically for use in offshore H-O rated marine bulkheads. The High Rise H-O Fire-Tite® maritime curtain doors provide offshore protection against rapid temperature increases. Offshore High Rise H-O Fire-Tite® curtains are constructed of galvanized steel in 2 3/4″ flat slats, and can be finished with powder coating or baked enamel finishes. Each door of the offshore maritime steel shutters are equipped with a 22 gauge steel hood formed to fit the contour of the end brackets and durable ductile iron windlock with 1/4″ semi-solid rivets. Our offshore marine curtain doors support and brackets are all steel plates no less than 1/4″ thick. Alpine’s Torsion Counterbalance Assembly is state of the art, providing maximum security and ease of use.
Fire performance evaluation of the Alpine H-O, the maritime steel doors assembly was conducted in accordance with IMO Resolution A.754, (18). Recommendation on fire door resistance tests for A, B, and F class divisions and ASTM E1529-93.
The Alpine H-O maritime shutters and assembly was tested for a total of two hours and 8 minutes and was exposed to continuous fire exposure for a total of 122 minutes and 15 seconds. The Alpine H-0 Overhead Door maintained its structural integrity by remaining closed for the entire duration of this fire test.
The test door dimensions were 10’ X 8’ ft. The door was installed in a representative bulkhead section which was constructed in general accordance with IMO Resolution A.754 (18). The steel door edges were stiffened with 2.5” x 2.5” x 1/4” reinforced angles. The exposed face of the bulkhead was insulated to an A-60 rating, provided by two, 2-in. layers of Delta Marine Board insulation.
