Alpine E-Series™ Rolling Service Doors doors are used for store fronts, warehouses, loading docks, car wash facilities, parking garages, aircraft hangars, fire houses, truck terminals, police stations, correctional facilities, manufacturing and retail applications among others. Optional security features make this ideal for use as riot protection doors – offering enhanced protection against looting, theft, vandalism and rioting.

Installation
- Rolling service doors as manufactured by Alpine Overhead Doors, Inc. are durable, sturdy and economical to install and maintain.
- Opening preparation, miscellaneous or structural metal work, access doors, finish or field painting, field electrical wiring, wire, conduit, fuses and disconnect switches are in the scope of work of other divisions or trades.
CURTAIN
Constructed of Interlocking, roll-formed 4.0” galvanized curved slats with steel stamped endlocks riveted to the ends of each alternate slat to prevent lateral movement and limit the deflection of the curtain. Structural Quality Grade D per ASTM-A653/A653-M as standard

BOTTOM BAR
Standard includes an extruded “Aluminum T” with an option for a single or double angle galvanized bottom bar measuring 2”x2”x1/8” which extends into the guides. Galvanized steel as per ASTM A653/A653-M. Optional finish: Exo-Shield™ Powder coating to match curtain
BRACKETS
Alpine’s Grey ExoShield™ Powder CoatedCarbon Steel plate not less than 1/4” thick with ball bearings at rotating support point on drive side bracket. When bolted to the wall, the mounting angle supports the barrel/pipe assembly and forms an end enclosure. OPTION: Stop lock bearing which prevents the door from free falling in the event of a drive operation failure
GUIDES
Consists of 14 gauge roll-formed steel mounting angles, (field welding required) and removable bellmouth curtain stops to allow for curtain maintenance without removal of the guides. Bellmouth stops shall be flush with the guide groove. Made from structural steel as per ASTM A-36.
COUNTERBALANCE ASSEMBLY
Pipe shall be manufactured with a diameter and wall thickness to restrict maximum deflection to 0.03” per foot of door width. Springs are helical torsion type which are designed to include an overload factor of 25% for optimum ease of operation., The springs are grease packed and mounted on a cold rolled steel inner shaft. Spring tension is adjustable from the outside of the end bracket. Sealed ball bearings are designed to prevent wear on the shaft at each end of the pipe/barrel.

HOOD Hexagon (Option: Square or Round)
Made from #22-gauge galvanized steel as standard and formed to fit the contour of the end brackets. Equipped with a neoprene air baffle. Finish Options: ExoShield™ powder coating to match curtain.
LOCKING
Option 1: Slide bolt locks on the bottom bar. (Motorized doors require electric interlocks.)
Option 2: Cylinder locks.
Option 3: Pin Locks with hasps on the guides.
RIOT OPTION: Alpine’s advanced Riot Protection Locking System which provides continuous locks that protect each slat individually.

SAFETY ENTRAPMENT PROTECTION
Option 1: Electric Monitored/Non-Monitored Sensing edge with a coil cord.
Option 2: Photo safety sensors mounted to the guides 6” above the finished floor that project an infrared beam across the width of the door. Breaking the beam while the door is in motion will result in the immediate stop of downward travel and reverse the door to reopen to the top limit.
ACCESS CONTROLS

1.03 SUBMITTALS FOR COILING RIOT DOORS
- Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
- Product Data: Provide manufacturer’s standard details and catalog data. Provide installation instructions.
- Shop Drawings: Furnish shop drawings for architect’s approval. Include elevation, sections, and details indicating dimensions, materials, finishes, conditions for anchorage and support of each door.
- Submit manufacturer’s recommended operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance instructions.
1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE FOR STOREFRONT ROLLING GATES
- Manufacturer: Rolling doors shall be manufactured by a firm with a minimum of five years experience.
- Single-Source Responsibility: Manufacturer shall provide doors, tracks, motors, and accessories for each type of door. Secondary components shall come from a source acceptable to the manufacturer of the primary components.
1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING OF 08330 COILING DOORS
- Deliver materials in original packaging supplied by manufacturer with intact labels. Store materials away from harmful environmental conditions and construction.
1.06 WARRANTY OF COILING RIOT DOORS
- Door Warranty: Provide one year written warranty from date of installation against deficiencies due to defects in materials or workmanship. Installer agrees to repair or replace any defects in materials or workmanship.

2.04 MOUNTING OF STOREFRONT ROLLING GATES:

PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION OF 08330 COILING DOORS
- Verify that dimensions are correct and project conditions are in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions; do not proceed with installation until unacceptable conditions have been corrected.
3.02 INSTALLATION OF OVERHEAD COILING DOORS
- Install units in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensure that units are installed plumb and true, free of warp or twist, and within tolerances specified by manufacturer for smooth operation.
3.03 FIELD TESTING OF COILING RIOT DOORS
- Test doors for regular operation.
3.04 DEMONSTRATION OF STOREFRONT ROLLING GATES
- Instruct the Owner’s personnel in correct operation and maintenance of units.
3.05 ADJUST AND CLEAN
- Clean units in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
- Restore slight blemishes in finishes in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions to match original finish. Remove and provide new units where repairs are not acceptable to the Architect.
