CURTAIN
Constructed of Interlocking, roll-formed 2 3/4” Insulated Plastic Back (IPB) galvanized steel slats, G90 coating exterior (G60 interior), Structural Quality Grade C (ASTM A653/A653M) in 22 Gauge.
Optional Gauges in 20 and 18.
Finish Options: phosphate, baked enamel or powder coated.

GALVANIZED ENDLOCKS
Hot dipped galvanized cast iron endlocks and windlocks riveted to the ends of every alternate slat, with (4) four, 1/4” rivets.
BOTTOM BAR
Two roll formed galvanized steel angles equipped with vinyl weatherstripping which extends into the guides. Standard finish galvanized as per ASTM A 653/A653 M.
BRACKET PLATES
Steel plate not less than 1/4” thick. The drive end bracket plate is fitted with a sealed ball bearing. The plates are bolted to the wall mounting angle with 1/2” fasteners. The plate supports the counterbalance assembly and forms an end enclosure.
GUIDES
Guides are designed using structural steel angles with a minimum thickness of 3/16”, minimum 1 1/4” slotted connections and removable bellmount curtain stops to allow for curtain maintenance without removal of the guides. Bellmouth stops shall be flush with the guide groove. (Option: Vinyl Weather Stripping)
COUNTERBALANCE ASSEMBLY
Steel pipe barrel of a size capable of carrying a curtain load with a maximum deflection of 0.03” per ft. of door width. The Heat treated helical torsion springs are encased in a steel pipe barrel designed for proper door balance. This is to ensure that effort to operate the door will not exceed 35 lbs. A sealed and prelubricated ball bearing is present at rotating support points. A Charge Wheel is located outside the end bracket, which is used for applying initial spring torque and for future adjustments.
HOOD Hexagon (Option: Square or Round)
Produced in 22 gauge steel and formed to fit the contour of the brackets with 3/8” thick intermediate supports used as needed to prevent excessive sag.
STRIPPING
The bottom bar is equipped with a Neoprene Astragal. The guides are provided with Snap-on vinyl. The Hood contains a Neoprene baffle.
Available in push-up, hand chain, hand-crank, or motor operation.

1.03 SUBMITTALS for Sound Resistant Shutters, Rolling Shutters, Insulated Sound Doors
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Product Data: Provide manufacturer’s standard details and catalog data. Provide installation instructions.

1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE for Sound Resistant Shutters, Rolling Shutters, Insulated Sound Doors
A. Manufacturer: Rolling doors shall be manufactured by a firm with a minimum of five years experience.
B. Single-Source Responsibility: Manufacturer shall provide doors, tracks, motors, and accessories for each type of door. Secondary components shall come from a source acceptable to the manufacturer of the primary components.
1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver materials in original packaging supplied by manufacturer with intact labels. Store materials away from harmful environmental conditions and construction.
1.06 WARRANTY of Sound Resistant Shutters
A. Door Warranty: Provide one year written warranty from date of installation against deficiencies due to defects in materials or workmanship. Installer agrees to repair or replace any defects in materials or workmanship.

Sealed and pre lubricated high speed ball bearing at rotating support points. Torsion spring charge wheel for applying spring torque and for future adjustments.

PART 3 – EXECUTION of Sound Resistant Shutters, Rolling Shutters, Insulated Sound Doors
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that dimensions are correct and project conditions are in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions; do not proceed with installation until unacceptable conditions have been corrected.
3.02 INSTALLATION of Rolling Shutters
A. Install units in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Ensure that units are installed plumb and true, free of warp or twist, and within tolerances specified by manufacturer for smooth operation.
3.03 FIELD TESTING
A. Test doors for regular operation.
3.04 DEMONSTRATION of Sound Resistant Shutters, Rolling Shutters, Insulated Sound Doors
A. Instruct the Owner’s personnel in correct operation and maintenance of units.
3.05 ADJUST AND CLEAN
A. Clean units in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Restore slight blemishes in finishes in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions to match original finish. Remove and provide new units where repairs are not acceptable to the Architect.

Alpine introduces sound resistant doors, Insul-Sound® a sound absorbent, noise reducer, and sound barrier roller shutters. These sound resistant doors and high speed doors have new slats that provide for a full thermal break between the inside and outside of the slat. The back of these industrial doors is made of hard, weather resistant PVC. The inside of these sound resistant shutters provide a full sound barrier for thermal protection. The front slat is available in 22, 20, and 18 gauge steel or B.S. Aluminum with a variety of finishes.
Alpine’s patented Insul-Sound® roller shutters design allows for the manufacturing of coiling sound resistant doors that are unmatched in the industry.
Alpine Insul-Sound® sound resistant doors and curtains consist of 2 3/4″ flat slats, snap on roll formed from galvanized, optional stainless steel, or aluminum in gauges from 22 gauge to 18 gauge with a noise reduction, sound barrier snap on PVC and insulated core backing. Industrial doors can be push-up, hand-crank, hand-chain or motor operated. All of the operators can be adapted to specific conditions for these high speed doors and folding doors. Locking units can be provided depending on the type of door operation.
